'The Scream' painting immortalised in the form of tattoos | Talens Black Drawing Ink

I'm a massive lover of art, and I recently visited The National Museum of Oslo during my visit to Norway last weekend.  There were so many beautiful paintings there done by Norwegian artists, and there was plenty of impressive Renaissance art there that was created by some of the masters of Norwegian art, so it was a really breathtaking experience.  Although I love Renaissance art and oil paintings, and I am completely in awe of the mastery and skill that has gone into this particular medium, my favourite painting (and the focal piece of the museum) is The Scream, by expressionist painter Edvard Munch.  There were 4 versions of this piece by Munch, done with paints and pastels, and it was really exciting to be able to encounter one of these pieces!

It's such an iconic piece of art, so it wasn't surprising for me to learn that there are some tattoo fans out there who loved the Munch painting that much that they decided to immortalise the art work on their skin.  We love all types of art here at Magnum Tattoo Supplies, and as well as tattoo supplies we stock a range of drawing inks such as Talens Black Drawing Ink, and many other great art products.  Check out these amazing Munch tattoos, featuring the beautiful piece of art 'The Scream'.

First up, an excellent piece done by Tracey Rose.  I love that this appears to be a full sleeve, and it's great that the artist was able to captuer the whole painting and turn it into a tattoo that wraps around the whole of the arm.  Extreme talent there!
A lovely take on this painting.  It works really well as a dotwork piece, and I like that it's captured in a circle, with the artist focusing on the main point of the painting.  What a lovely tattoo!
This bicep tattoo is probably my favourite Munch inspired piece.  I love the depth in it, and how well the colour has been used to make it really stand out.  An excellent ode to The Scream, done by Matt Tyszka.
This one is a great take on The Scream and also a nice little coverup tattoo too! A crossover Jack Skellington tattoo, this Nightmare before Christmas inspired piece that incorporates lots of artistic elements of the film, is a lovely tribute to The Scream.
I'm not sure who did this piece but I think it's beautiful.  It's so intricate but detailed, and is rounded off perfectly in a neat circle.  It's a lovely idea for a small tribute to a grand painting.

We'd love to hear which of these wonderful tattoos was your favourite.  If you have a famous painting tattooed on you, or have tattooed something like this yourself then we'd love to hear from you.  Be sure to leave us a message in the comment section below and let us know about your art work!  If you're a lover of all things art, then don't forget to check out our range of art supplies online, where you can get hold of Talens Black Drawing Ink, and much more.

Love Toni...
