Creepy, mysterious and macabre, the Grim Reaper is typically portrayed as a dark, cloaked skeletal figure armed with a scythe. His black cloak is said to symbolise death, and the role of the Grim Reaper is to collect the souls of the living when it is their time to pass.  Reaper tattoos are particularly popular in old school tattooing and traditional Americana tattoo art, but they make great content for all kinds of tattoo styles.

The Reaper, also known as the Death Reaper, or Angel of Death is somewhat a myth and a legend, and the personification of death.  He’s since became a popular choice when it comes to subject matter for tattoos, and we’ve seen some excellent reaper designs that are equally as creepy as they are amazing.

As suppliers of Radiant Real Black Tattoo Ink, a brilliant ‘all-rounder' that’s perfect for both lining and shading, we love all things tattoos, especially when it comes to the dark and sinister stuff! So, let’s take a look at some of these incredible Grim Reaper themed tattoos.

First up, an excellent Grim Reaper piece from our brilliant sponsored artist Niall Shannon. The whip shade effect here is amazing, and we love the dark serpent creeping underneath the Reaper.

This grim Reaper is dark and deadly, made with Radiant tattoo ink. It’s great to see a more realistic style Reaper amongst many old school style Reapers. By Rebel Hernandez.

A very traditional and bold style Reaper from Julian Blast. We love the simplistic style here and limited colour scheme.

Eva Cornelisse made this incredible Reaper piece. It’s black and it’s bold, and it’s a typical old school style Reaper. A classic!

A lovely neo-traditional style Reaper from Mason Chimato. We love a splash of colour in Reaper tattoos, and the muted colours here work wonderfully.

This one is colourful and quirky! A really fun, not so 'Grim' Reaper piece from Jen Lee. The tropical Hawaiian shirt is a brilliant touch and a light-hearted perspective on the Grim Reaper.

So there you have it, some super-creepy Reaper tattoos that are enough to send chills down your spine!  It’s great to see the variety of styles that can be applied to Grim Reaper pieces, and these are just a few of the many incredible Reaper tattoos out there.

If you’ve created a Grim Reaper tattoo yourself then we’d really like to see it, so make sure you leave us a comment below! Don’t forget to check out Radiant Real Black Tattoo Ink if you’re after the perfect all-rounder for your tattoos.

Love Toni
